Pricing That Makes Sense

Most platforms make pricing feel complicated. We think it should be easy to understand, easy to trust, and fair for the people bringing others together. We’ve created a simple, clear model with full transparency, that Gather only charges when you sell a ticket.

There are no upfront costs, no subscriptions to get started, and no hidden fees behind the scenes. Just a simple, clear model.

What You Pay

We charge a flat 10% per ticket sold. That’s it. There are:

  • no setup fees
  • no subscriptions
  • no fixed fee per ticket
  • no hidden costs
  • no ticket sales, no fees

You only pay when someone purchases a ticket to attend your gathering.

You Decide How Fees Are Handled

You can choose what works best for your gathering.

  • Include the fee within your ticket price, so attendees see a single total, or
  • Pass the fee on at checkout, so it is added separately.

Why There Are Fees at All

Handling payments comes with real costs. To make sure everything runs securely and reliably, we use Stripe. They provide the infrastructure that allows money to move safely between attendees and organisers. These costs include:

Gather is not built to be a transactional ticketing platform, but we’ve had to design a fee structure that covers these essentials.

Because our focus is on helping people come together in real life, charging a simple fee in this way allows us to continue building a platform that supports more people, more gatherings, and stronger local connections.

Where Your Money Goes

When someone buys a ticket, the payment goes directly to you. We do not hold your funds. Payouts are handled automatically and sent to your bank account. If you do not sell tickets, you do not pay anything.

Why We Use Stripe

We use Stripe because it is one of the most trusted payment providers globally. It also helps create a safer experience for everyone using Gather.

Before receiving payments, organisers are asked to provide basic details to confirm their identity. This helps to:

  • prevent fraud
  • protect attendees
  • ensure payouts go to the right person
  • meet legal requirements in the UK

It is a small step, but an important one in building trust across the platform.

How We Compare

Platforms like Eventbrite typically charge a percentage plus a fixed fee per ticket. That fixed fee can make a significant difference, especially for lower-cost events.

Ticket priceEventbrite feeGather feeDifference
£5£1.04 (20.8%)£0.50 (10%)Gather is 50% cheaper
£10£1.49 (14.9%)£1.00 (10%)Gather is 33% cheaper
£20£2.39 (12.0%)£2.00 (10%)Gather is cheaper
£30£3.28 (10.9%)£3.00 (10%)Gather is slightly cheaper
£40£4.17 (10.4%)£4.00 (10%)Gather is slightly cheaper
£50£5.07 (10.1%)£5.00 (10%)Very similar

For community-led and lower-cost gatherings, this often means a much higher proportion of the ticket price is lost to fees. That is why we have removed the fixed fee entirely. Just a simple percentage, whatever the price of your ticket.

For tickets priced around £55 to £60, Eventbrite can sometimes work out slightly cheaper due to its lower percentage fee. However, Gather is designed to support local, community-led events, where pricing is typically lower, and simplicity matters more.

By using Gather, you are keeping costs predictable, avoiding fixed per-ticket fees, and supporting a platform built specifically for local connection and participation.

A Different Kind of Platform

It is worth saying that Eventbrite offers a broader set of tools. They are built for large-scale events, with advanced reporting, refund systems, and more complex event management features. This is because they hold the money and pay later. Gather is built for something different.

We focus on:

  • local organisers
  • grassroots activity
  • people starting something new

That means:

  • simpler tools
  • lower costs
  • less friction to get started

Gather exists to help people meet, connect, and take part in something together. Our pricing reflects that. You can create gatherings, share them, and build an audience without paying anything up front.

We have kept pricing simple so you can focus on what matters. Bringing people together.

FAQs

Do I need a subscription to sell tickets on Gather?

No. You can use Gather freely.

When do I get paid?

Payouts are handled automatically through Stripe and sent directly to your bank account. Timing depends on Stripe’s payout schedule, but funds typically arrive within a few days.

Why do I need to verify my details?

You will need to verify your identity in line with Stripe requirements. This helps confirm you are a legitimate organiser and protects everyone using the platform.

Can I run free events?

Yes. Free events can be created and shared at no cost.

Is Gather cheaper than Eventbrite?

For most community and lower-cost events, yes.

What happens if I need to cancel an event?

You are in control of your event and your refund policy. If you cancel, you will need to refund attendees in line with your stated terms.

Can I offer refunds through Gather?

Refunds are managed by you as the organiser. We support the process, but you decide your policy and how it is applied.

Can I promote my event on Gather but manage ticket sales elsewhere?

Yes. You can link to an external ticketing page if you prefer to manage bookings elsewhere. However, using Gather’s built-in ticketing makes your event easier to discover and join. It also unlocks features like attendee tracking, updates, and a smoother booking experience. For most organisers, keeping everything in one place helps more people turn up.

Are there any upfront costs at all?

Simple pricing. Real transparency. More people, together.
